Closing the Capital Gap on a Stuck Deal
A good deal stalls for one reason. Here's how to restructure it.
A stuck deal is almost always a structure problem, not a quality problem. The asset is fine; the capital stack doesn't clear.
Start by separating the gap into its parts: how much is debt the deal can service, and how much is equity the deal can reward? Most stalls come from asking one source to carry both.
Re-layer the stack. Senior debt to what cash flow supports, then a mezzanine or preferred layer for the middle, then equity for the rest — each priced to its real risk.
Bring the right introduction. Capital is relationships. A warm intro to a lender who funds exactly this profile beats a cold blast to fifty who don't.
Sometimes the answer is a smaller, cleaner deal. Closing 80% of the vision today often beats chasing 100% that never funds.
